The Globe

The year is 1613, and the King’s men are performing "All is True". A small cannon is fired, a smoldering piece of wadding lodges in the thatch roof and quietly, slowly a fire ignites. Within minutes, the audience is scrambling for their lives while the actors rush to save what they can. Finally, when everyone is safely out, the actors stand facing the inferno that was The Globe and watch incredulously, as history goes up in smoke. From the narrative point of view of John Hemmings, the theater's business manager, we are steeped into the lives, loves, politics, hardships and rivalries of a group of men made famous by William Shakespeare. Humanity doesn’t change, only time.
